October 2, 2009 ~ Kitchen Chemistry

We made spaghetti dance. – Charlie

We poured baking soda in water and stirred it up. We put the vermicelli in the water. Then we added vinegar. It took a minute and the vermicelli started rising and when they got to the top the bubbles popped and it went back down. – Ford

The bubbles of carbon dioxide went on the vermicelli and it started to carry it to the top. The bubbles popped at the top and the vermicelli went back down. – Noah

We made a rubber egg and bounced it. When it got about a foot off the ground, it popped when we dropped it. – Josh

Last Friday, we put vinegar in a cup and then we put raw eggs in it. Today it felt like rubber. – Hunter

The egg shell dissolved. – Ford

We checked on our egg we put in a plastic bag last week – rotten egg. It stunk! - Natania

The rubber egg grew very big. – Emma

We made a stomach and mixed juice with crackers to squish it up. – David

We made chyme. – Britta

The large intestine is called the colon. – Noah

We made s’mores. We were trying to make it by the sun, but it wasn’t sunny so we had to make them in the microwave. – Christian

The s’mores tasted really good. – Leann

We made a little oven with paper plates and black paper. – Drew

We went to the crabapple tree and had dessert. – Erin

We got to jump out the classroom window today. – Kelly

With the s’mores, I made a tiny cake out of the marshmallows and the chocolate chips because I didn’t really like the crackers. – Bailey

When we added more vinegar and baking soda to the water with the vermicelli, we got a little explosion. (Messy) – Hunter
